2006/7 Qango Upgrade

We are currently rolling out a new look for Qango, and we're making some sweeping changes to both the directory and non-directory content.

One of the biggest changes we are making is the removal of all advertisements (with the exception of our free email service.) We feel this will improve the look and speed of the directory for our regular visitors, and make our review services a more attractive prospect.

We're also changing the link format for all directory listings. We've been passing site links through a counter script to allow us to create a popular listings page. After speaking with people in the SEO community we have decided to change all listings to direct links. Site owners should now benefit from their listing counting as a proper inbound link with various data and page ranking sources.

Over the coming months we are completely upgrading the directory software that runs Qango (likely to be 2007 before it's ready), and a key part of this upgrade is to change our paid review service. We hope to expand on the success of our Guaranteed Site Review service and offer a number of options that will appeal to both small businesses and larger companies alike.

We're excited about the changes (which should make Qango faster and easier to use), and we hope that you enjoy them too.

PS: We've also removed the Qango Chat Forums - they were never a great success and we're fairly sure no one will miss them!
